Mount ISO image on Windows 7
In this days I’m trying Windows 7 (read other posts) on my EeePc and mount a ISO image is fundamental on a pc without DVD-driver.
Normally I used Virtual CloneDriver, but it causes some problems. Virtual Clone CD work on Windows 7, but after that you sleep or hibernate pc, you can’t navigate on your folder. For example if you wont open a file from a program and file isn’t in the default folder, when you try to change folder the window becomes pearl grey and is impossible select any files.
After Virtual CloneDriver, I tried Daemon Tool. It’s possible install this program correctly, but when you mount a ISO image windows crashes (BSoD).
Now I’m trying PowerISO and, for now, I’m having any problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: I tried other tools linked in comment, and this is the result:- Pismo File Mount: it isn't a true virtual driver, but open ISO image like folder. However, it's a nice program and works on Windows 7, but it mount only ISO image (and not all).
- Magic Disc: it is a free program and read most diffused DVD image format(ISO, NGR,...). Personally, I had some problem of stability after that I installed it, probably because of incompatibility with some programs.

im having the same issues. i tried magic disc and microsoft's own utility. any help?
Try this: http://www.pismotechnic.com/
It worked for me.

I'll try microsoft's own utility and prismo and magic disc and update post.
@First "Anonymous said...": what do you Microsoft's utility try? what issues are you having?
I tried Alocohol 120%...it doesn't even install.
I tried MagicDisc and I could no longer access any of my disc drives! What's more is when I tried to uninstall, it didn't get rid of the virtual drives and therefore didn't fix the problem. Not even in Safe Mode. I ended up having to reinstall Windows 7 to fix the problem. I wouldn't try MagicDisc again until it's been fixed for 7.
when i meant microsofts own, i meant this: http://weblogs.asp.net/pleloup/archive/2004/01/15/58918.aspx
it worked well on vista 32bit, but not on vista 64bit. it worked on all versions of xp.
it freezes the whole system and it isnt responding, no matter how long you would wait. poweriso worked for me so far with very little issues, but i prefered the microsoft utility, as it had more mounting options. try it out for yourself and post back up.
thanks :D
How to mount ISO images under Mac OS X?
Read here to find out!
Thanks for the post. Daemon tools failed, I'll give PowerISO a shot.
I am runnin W7 x64 and mounting images has been quite a problem.
From atleast 10 progs i've tried so far only PowerIso was actually capable of mounting image :)
Virtual CloneDrive works but took a long time for it to respond to anything.
heyy. i got an eeepc too! I was googling to find this an wa-la!
I got a 1000H with W7 on my D: Drive. PowerISO only mount < 300M and i need more than that. I am trying to install a game. So i tried prismo. Do i run the mount control program and the press file mount? Do i then mount it to some folder on D?
this wont erase w7 right?
That Windows XP Virtual CDROM thing works great in Windows 7 32 Bit!
VirtualCloneDrive
It's free and works fine in Windows 7.
Yip - VirtualCloneDrive works fine on Windows7 64bit build 7100 so thats cool. And its free
Same here... Windows 7 64 bit and VirtualCloneDrive works and it's for free :-)
PowerISO didn't work on my Win7. Nice little BSOD and had to restore back a day :-(
What the hellllll is wrong with your English, I got a serious headache trying to read this!

What an excellent article, thank yo so much for posting that helped me for a college project that I had to about installing configuring mac OS in windows 7 by VMWare.
I haven't been able to get either magic disc or poweriso to work 100% like they did on windows vista. They both will mount the image, but if I try to get them to run what's on the image, they just browse the files on the disc. Like when I tried to watch a video, it just viewed the audio_ts and video_ts files rather than actually playing the video. I can still watch the video by going to the virtual drive through windows media player, but that is only a fix for videos. If I have something other than a video, I won't be able to use it. Any suggestions?
i tried almost every program on my windows 7...poweriso n virtual clone drive get installed fine and was able to mount image but after installing the game or anything it gives error that please insert correct cd in cd-rom everytime...please help...any solutions??

If you want to test out systems or softwares, you should go with free subscription first. Like the PowerISO. Although there are some disadvantages to free systems- like, you don’t get to test out all features- it will basically give you an idea on what to expect from the system. You could also go with systems that offers a trial period.
