Megavideo Unlimited: Download videos from Megavideo(Update2009)

I already told about Megavideo and how bypass time limit, but today I want talk about how download from Megavideo.

Before talk about download video, a small summarize about Megavideo. Megavideo is a web site which contain many films, series, cartoons,… on streaming, but recently Megavideo added a time limit. After 72 minutes of video, all video are stopped and this screen appears on page:

Many time is useful download video because of different reasons: to bypass time limit, to watch video on a mobile device(IPod, IPhone, PDA, …), to watch video on the road, to download film or series by very fast connection (of university or of the place to work) without P2P programs (Adunanza, uTorrent…), that normally don’t work because of proxy, …

To download video from Megavideo there are many way:

• Firefox offline mode
• RealPlayer mode
• Safari mode

Firefox offline mode:

1. Open video from Megavideo
2. When video starts, click on pause button
3. When all video is buffered turn Firefox off-line (File->Work offline)

This methods is very easy, but some time don’t work and it don’t save the file of video. If you want save file you must go to offline cache folder of Firefox (if you use Windows 7 or Vista C:\Users\NAMEUSER\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles), copy the video file, normally biggest file, paste and rename file “video.flv”.

RealPlayer mode:

New RealPlayer release (11) have a interesting feature: during installation the program add a plug-in to browser that allows to download video that are on a page of a website. This feature is usable on Megavideo, too.

1. Install RealPlayer
2. Open video from Megavideo
3. When video starts, click on pause button
4. right–click –> Download this video to RealPlayer
5. save file

This methods is easy and fast but have some problem with slow connections which exceed 72 minutes limit.

Safari mode:

Safari allows to see more information about navigation, in particular is possible to see which file are loaded into a page. Is possible use this features to download file from Megavieo.

1. Open video from Megavideo
2. When video starts, click on pause button
3. Window –> Activity (Crtl+Alt+A)
4. Find biggest file of Megavideo page and double click on it
5. Save file like “nome.flv”

This method as previous solution is very easy and fast  but some time have problem with slow connections.

Microsoft Zune reinvents the Millennium Bug

There are many people that strongly believe that the Zune is a valid substitute for the iPod; unfortunately some of its defects are convincing me that Microsoft clearly isn't putting much energy into its product. After cracking screens and a seriously injured customer it is now time for a "new Millenium Bug": every single Zune on earth has frozen because of a bug in the way the Zune handles leap years. Luckly this time no one was injured! But I still can't stop thinking about what the next bug will be.

The real story beyond iPod invention

Are you thinking that I’m writing an article explaining how Steve Jobs in a dream revealed himself how to design the most famous tech gadget? Actually you are a little wrong, it wasn’t a dream nor was Steve Jobs the brilliant inventor that first thought about the device as we know it.

Surfing on the web I found this really interesting site where Kane Kramer explains what he designed (not in California) 20 years before Apple iPod. Am I the only one that is finding more that one or two similarity between this concept and the Apple product? I feel like if I am in front of a couple of brothers!

The Apple fan you have inside is saying that Apple introduced the iTunes Music Store, that was really original. Sorry for that Mr. Kramer was presenting the music shop of the future in only few years after Apple’s foundation!

The only thing that Mr. Kramer was missing was the Internet. Without it such a business was simply unaffordable.

iPod rocks the Space Shuttle

While it might not be big news that Space Shuttle Endeavour is circling the planet at this moment, it is really really cool to know that it has an iPod aboard.

This is not the first time that an iPod is spotted in space and, while you might think that it's easy to bring your favourite MP3 player on the Shuttle, you should know that standard battery has been replaced for safety reasons and that the iPod Touch accelerometer sensor would not work (no gravity!)... now you know how to prepare your iPod for your next travel in space!

In-ear earphones

Tired of hearing noise instead of the song you're listening with your player while you're walking in the streets or while you're in the subway?

The solution is quite easy and doesn't require to change anything but your earphones, buying a new in-ear pair. Doing this you will experience only your favorite songs, no more noise only music, and the quality of the sounds you listen would be even better. Another advantage of in-ear is that you can listen music at a lower volume, a more safe practice for your ears.

Recycle your old phone NOW!

Want to change phone? Don't know what to do with the old one?

Well, while you buy a new iPod, iPhone or any Mac, simply give it to Apple, which will recycle it for free.

"In addition to products like iPods, people can now also recycle cellphones, produced by any manufacturer. There are two main options for sending devices to Apple: they can either be delivered in person at an Apple Store, or else mailed to a central location.

If a person chooses mail, they can specify any quantity of phones or iPods. They must then decide whether to use either a print-out label on packaging of their own, or else a custom package shipped from Apple, which requires seven to 10 days for delivery. Both options are free to the customer.

The program supplements efforts at recycling computers and monitors, which can be accepted under any brand name so long as a person has also purchased a qualifying Apple system."

Cool? Oh yeah!

iPod expose your PC to security risks

It is quite easy. When you buy an iPod you accept to use iTunes to load your multimedia files on it.

But what happens when your device compels you to install iTunes and the required (and deadly bugged) QuickTime?

You can find here some consequences (For space issue I'm reporting only 2008 problems):

• QuickTime zero-day bug threatens Macs, PCs (2 Jan 2008)
• Another zero-day exploit for QuickTime (11 Jan 2008)

I hope you made your friends say WOW with your iPod Touch bought for Christmas. This was the reason you choose it, isn't it?!

sirus toughts: yes, QuickTime it's an extremely bugged software (note that I'm an Apple user) and these aren't the first zero-day we can see. The simplest solution is to uninstall QT after iTunes installation and replacing it with QuickTime Alternative a very good freeware solution.
